Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
& trauma focus intervention

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) has many applications that works around exploring the clients cognitive errors and behavior by breaking the problem down into more manageable pieces. CBT helps the client examine their faulty thinking and their maladaptive behavior and looks at replacing them with more adaptive alternatives. I have found CBT effective for people who are struggling to progress in life and need a direct approach to give them the tools to become more functional. I help people to focus on their goals, analysis their faulty thinking and recognise their unhelpful thinking patterns.

Our initial session can explore your personal goals and objectives and how many sessions we will need to achieve this.

When working with trauma and PTSD, NICE guidelines specify Trauma focused CBT as one of the core recommended and evidence based interventions. Having trained at the Anna Freud Centre, I have experience in delivering this CBT model to help work through and reduce PTSD symptoms, as well as having experience in attachment and personality disorders and working with Schemas.

I have completed the Mentalization Based Therapy for families (MBT-F) at the Anna Freud centre, which was originally created for working with Borderline presentations. Mentalization has since become recognised as a  helpful approach for a wide range of disorders supporting  in helping clients regulate their emotions and have a greater understanding of others mental and internal states.

NICE guidelines stipulate a psychosocial approach to the core elements of supporting diagnosed ASD. To help high functioning ASD CBT has been proven to be clinically effective when working as part of a holistic and consistent approach to care.
